Constantinople

Constantinople is the original name of Istanbul, coming from the name of the city founder, Constantine. Istanbul is the turkish name, meaning “in the city”, coming from the greek phrase “is tin polin” (ελλ. “Εις την πόλιν”), which became the turkish “Istanbul”.
